| THEMATIC WORKING
Thematic working at innovation processes gives the organisation the opportunity of improving the quality of its product development process in throughput time, cost control, and in product and production quality. The aim of thematic working is that the whole organisation is responsible for the results of projects, like for example: maximum client satisfaction; the supply of components at the assembly lines operating with optimal logistics; effective quality control during production and the ease of product installation and maintenance. During the development process, one can also include in the objectives, sustainability constraints, like for example labour safety; health and welfare legislation and environment protection. The main differences between "innovation project management" and "infrastructure project management' are:
During innovation processes it appears that the project resources ‘time’ is the most important factor and should have the highest priority. Extra project turnover can be generated thus saving ‘money’ with the usage of less time. A project requires more attention for outsourcing development activities or (parts of) production to third parties. Purchased components from different sources must be assembled to get an operational product in the end. On the other side one should take care that unique characteristics remain protected against plagiarism. |
